    Manganui Ski Field at Mt Egmont - Stratford Mountain Club

    Located on the slopes of Mount Egmont, the Statford Mountain Club operates and funds a ski hill equipped with a towrope, a T-bar, and a top tow. With approximately 20 runs, routes are rated as 5% beginner, 30% intermediate, and 65% advanced. A shelter with a canteen is provided on the hill and equipment rental is available. Open from June to October, 9am to 4pm.

    Tukino Mountain

    Found on the eastern slopes of Mt Ruapehu, Tukino is a little ski treasure. Only accessible by a gravel access road, a 4WD is needed to get it. Admission to the hill is limited, making Tukino uncrowded. The runs are 75 percent beginner, 20 percent intermediate and 5 percent advanced.

    Whakapapa Ski Field

    Only 20 minutes from Okahune, Whakapapa offers over 30 groomed runs and 23 lifts, making it one of New Zealand's largest, and most popular, ski fields. Whakapapa operates in conjunction with Mt Turoa ski hill under the auspices of Mt Ruapehu to form the largest snow sport facility in the Southern Hemisphere.

    Ruapehu Alpine Lifts

    With 1000 hectares (2471 acres) of ski terrain, Mt Ruapehu and Mt Turoa is New Zealand's largest ski area. Along with many runs, the hill offers a half-pipe, which is popular with snowboarders. The hill often hosts events, and a cafe and bar on site offers great après ski facilities.

    Turoa Ski Area

    On Mt Ruapehu's south western slopes, Turoa Ski Area offers exhilarating runs on the largest vertical drop in Australasia, and a purpose built beginners' area. Generally open from mid-June to mid-October, Turoa features groomed runs, black runs, natural half pipes, a terrain park, 11 lifts, a ski school and ski hire. Great for all levels of skiers and snowboarders, these picturesque slopes boast a fantastic view, just minutes from Ohakune.
