    The Classic Car Museum

    Step into an old Shell service station and step back in time. The building, built in the 1920s, today houses an impressive collection of 44 classic English sports cars and motorcycles ranging from 1946 to 1973. Set up like a gallery, the building was refurbished to hold the massive collection while retaining its historical interest. The museum may also be hired for private functions.

    Papakura & Districts Museum
    The Papakura Museum traces the city's history back to Papakura's first settlement in 1847, and includes a record of the military presence that has been here since the 1860s. The reflection of this past is recorded through an array of over 10,000 items and photographs. Research enquiries are welcome. Open Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday.

    NZ National Maritime Museum

    Aptly located at the waterfront, the museum has an impressive collection of maritime history showcasing heritage vessels, art treasures, visiting vessels in the marina and much more. A gift shop, visitor information centre and cafe are onsite. Cruises and functions centre are also available. Open daily 9am to 6pm (5pm from Easter to October).

    Auckland Art Gallery - Toi o Tamaki

    Waiheke Island Historic Village
    This historic village reflects European settlement as it was in the 1930s and is complete with cottages and a Woolshed that house historical photographs and artefacts including a wool press and whale-boiling cauldron. A display is also dedicated to the Maori who first inhabited the area 700 years ago. A shop onsite sells reproductions of historical photographs. Open Monday, Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday from 12-4pm.

    Auckland Museum Te Papa Whakahiku

    Opening its doors in 1852, the museum has acquired a colossal collection over the years spanning natural history, ethnology, archaeology, history, arts and photography, and library�all of which providing the visitor with a comprehensive understanding of New Zealand, its people, and its culture. A Maori cultural group performs three times daily and children will enjoy two discovery centres. There is also a war memorial commemorating the many New Zealanders who died in battle. Situated on top of an extinct volcano in an expansive green space, the museum commands great views of Auckland and the harbour. This is an attraction that should not be missed. Open daily 10am to 5pm.
